Canopy collapse & thaw-crack
With this project, I have learned a lot about permafrost, its structure and the effects of its thawing in forested and agricultural areas.
Around my house, the ground is in continuous transition — cracks open, and ground subsides in places and trees tilt and fall.
These prints show this splitting of the ground and the significant impact on the forest above. Our house is surrounded by birch, many of which look like the ones in this print.
Spruce can also tell important tales in their rings about the movement of the ground.
